Overview & Key Takeaways

During my 10-week internship, I worked on 2 very distinct projects at the Alipay Global Business Team, which provided me with the opportunity to design and solve problems for both consumer and enterprise products. With a global reach of over 1.2 billion users worldwide and providing payment services in over 190 countries, working at the Alipay was truly a unique opportunity to make impact at scale.

While this was my first time working for a larger international tech company, working under various defined industry standards in design and project management had helped me to learn and grow significantly. By regularly meeting with UX researchers, engineers, risk management team and other critical stakeholders, I was able to balance my designs to account for multiple cross-functional needs. From enriching my understanding on approaching very different problem spaces at a much larger scale and with a lot of existing limitations, to seeing my designs come to life, my summer at Alipay had really increased my confidence as a designer while making design decisions and deliver impact.

Due to NDA restrictions, I cannot disclose all details about my projects. Please contact me for more information.

Designing Digital Wallet Feature

The first project I was assigned to is to design an initial version of digital wallet on AliExpress mobile application in 4 different European countries, which will allow users to easily manage their account balance, credit cards, and combine 2 different payment methods during checkout.

Working with cross-functional and cross-country design teams, we used multiple design sprints to quickly iterate designs from the overall structure of the digital wallet to detailed checkout flows for each feature.
